Curacao came into this round of game as the top team in 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying, and is still fifth in the 34-team table despite the fact most of the field has now played one more game. Two big wins - 10-0 over Grenada and 5-0 over US Virgin Islands - have given Curacao six points and an imposing goal difference, and that is why any result in this match other than a heavy loss should see the team remain among the top contenders for a 2019 Gold Cup berth and CNL League A qualification heading into the final round of games.
A heavy loss seems unlikely because Guadeloupe has not found goal-scoring all that easy so far in this competition. Les Gwada Boys drew 0-0 with Aruba in the last round, after opening the tournament with a relatively modest 3-0 win over Saint Martin.
Curacao has been scoring freely; Guadeloupe has yet to concede; both teams are unbeaten in CNL Qualifying to date and will be disappointed not to be at the Gold Cup next year: this is one of the more significant matches of the November round of this competition.
