A little bit of rain and wind -- and Jim Cantore's massive bald head -- will prevent the New York Red Bulls from taking on the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night, meaning that we're faced with an RBNY-less, hurricane-ful weekend.
Some safety news for those of you in the New York area:
- MTA bus and subway service will stop at 12 PM on Saturday.
- Mayor Bloomberg has ordered evacuation of everyone in Zone A.
- Don't know if you're in Zone A? Looking for an evacuation shelter? Check out the Office of Emergency Management's website.
- For more information, call 311 or the Greater New York Red Cross at 877-733-2767. The phone lines are packed, so you'll have to be patient.
- The Times has a Storm Tracker.
Enough of that. Onwards to....stuff to watch this weekend (assuming the lights stay on).
Australia vs. New Zealand (Tri-Nations Rugby), Saturday, 6 AM, somewhere on the interwebs -- the Rugby World Cup starts in about two weeks, it's time to get warmed up (the USA qualified!)
New York Giants vs. New York Jets, Saturday, 2 PM, NBC -- Self-explanatory. Go G-Men.
Bayer Leverkusen vs. Borussia Dortmund, Saturday, 12:30 PM, ESPN3.com, ESPN Deportes (tape delay) -- First versus second from last season. Should be a cracker.
Manchester United vs. Arsenal, Sunday, 11 AM, Fox Soccer - Arsenal haven't won at Old Trafford since 2006. Big game for them.
Other suggestions welcomed. Stay safe everybody.
