New York Red Bulls vs. Philadelphia Union: Recap & Reaction

The Red Bulls picked up their first ever win at PPL Park, beating the Philadelphia Union 3-2 with goals from Joel Lindpere, Markus Holgersson, and Kenny Cooper. Lindpere scored early on to give New York the lead before Lionard Pajoy leveled for Philadelphia. Freddy Adu was sent off for simulation late in the first half, but the Union took the lead shortly after the break and looked far the better side throughout.

Philly will rue some of their fifty missed chances and messed-up counter-attacks, and the Red Bulls looked tired and lacking sharpness at the back, but New York managed to score more of the (few) chances they created, and will be more than happy to head home for a bit of rest with three points and first place in the Eastern Conference.

More to come....

From the MLSsoccer.com article
New York (7-3-1) has now won four straight while the struggling Union (2-6-1) have dropped three consecutive regular-season games for the first time since their inaugural 2010 season.

How sweet is that?!

ESPN said that this is the first time that the Red Bulls organization has won four straight games in nine years or something like that. Any truth to this? I can’t seem to hunt down the information successfully.

Very, very pleased with the team and how it has played with Thierry Henry out of the XI.

I'm loving this trend

Both the Red Bulls and my Rochester Rhinos are battling to tough 1 goal wins on the road. And now they are both top of the table in their respective leagues.

Is the one goal win this year’s boring draw? If so, I’m all for it.

Kenny Cooper

I wish my team wouldn’t have sold this guy after the coach and TA jumped all over his lack of production. Boyd with Cooper would have been fun.

Cooper has been beastly as a Red Bull.
