I Need To Slow My Roll: Maybe Henry Won't Be Back Tomorrow

Backe wants to push you, Thierry. Let Back push you...

This story? Yeah, forget it. It seems I broke out the party hats and the big "welcome back" banner a little too early. It seems, come tomorrow night, Thierry Henry might be relegated to the bench, or worse, for the mach against Chivas USA.

Hans Backe told reporters yesterday the weather has kept the team from really testing the forward. He said he'd do that today, but it remains to be seen if Backe will be able to adequately push Henry.

He's still listed, according to the MLSsoccer.com preview, as "Probable."

Not that all is (could be) lost with Henry's absence. Wilman Conde and Rafael Marquez figure to be available, which really shores up the back line, especially with the addition of Heath Pearce. Stephen Keel and Teemu Tainio are both listed as out. Jan Gunnar Solli is listed as doubtful and probably won't make the bench, as he's just begun training.

So Kenny Cooper still figures to be the lone man up top for the Red Bulls come tomorrow night. No word on whether or not Henry could come off the bench, but one would assume he'd be available in that capacity. After playing the lone striker role for the last five games, Cooper could probably use a rest.
