The New York Red Bulls three Development Academy teams were in action last weekend at the Red Bulls Training Facility, going a combined 4-1.
The U14s play in the Metro Division and beat Richmond United 5-1. Dylan Sullivan and Kejiel Watt scored a brace and Scott Taylor contributed a fifth goal. Key White scored the lone goal for Richmond. The U14s are currently 2-0 after opening the season on August 29th with a 8-0 win over PA Classics.
The U16s are off to a 3-0 start in the Atlantic Division after wins against Richmond United and D.C. United. They thrashed Richmond, 7-0, behind a hat trick from Omir Fernandez, a brace from Zach Ryan, and goals from Kazu Shigenobu and Valentino Ambrosio. The U16s then beat D.C. United, 5-1, behind another brace from Ryan, and goals from Fernandez, Vince Borden, and Carlos Alvarado. Colin Brezniak scored the lone goal for D.C.
The U18s, led by head coach Simon Nee, started their weekend with a 3-0 win over Richmond United. JP Marin, Mason Toye, and Jared Gilbey scored, and Wojciech Gajda was in goal for the shutout. On Sunday, they lost to D.C. United, 5-1, the first loss for a Red Bulls team during the 2015-2016 Academy season. Brian Saramago, last goals leading scorer for the U16s, scored the lone goal.
Next weekend, all three teams take on New Jersey Cedar Stars Academy at the Training Facility.
