Denmark's Herning Folkeblad is reporting that Daniel Royer - a 26-year-old winger with a smattering of caps for Austria - is finalizing a move to the New York Red Bulls.

The Danish outlet was able to get the sporting director of Royer's current club - FC Midtjylland - to confirm that there are ongoing discussions about a transfer for the player, but Claus Steinlein stopped short of revealing which specific teams were in on the conversation.

The paper suggests a fee in the region of $220,000 will be paid for the player, who arrived in Denmark last season and is reported to be under contract with his current club for another three years.

Royer does fit the presumed profile for the "attacking help" RBNY is known to be seeking: he is under 30 and sufficiently experienced to be compete for a start right away. The Austrian is not a product of the Red Bull global soccer system. He has played several seasons in the Austrian Bundesliga - most recently for Austria Wien - and also had a brief stint in Germany with Hannover 96 (including a loan out to FC Koln).

Royer was a first team regular for Midjtylland last season, and has Europa League and Champions League experience with both current and former clubs.

Herning Folkeblad reports a move to RBNY could be announced within the week.
