Panama won Group D with a game to spare, mostly because Panama has won every game it has played so far at the 2018 CONCACAF Men’s U-20 Championship. But Los Canaleros also got a helping hand from St Kitts and Nevis. The Sugar Boyz beat Canada in the last round of games in Group D, effectively eliminating the one team that still had a mathematical chance of taking top spot in the group away from Panama.
That game served notice that St Kitts and Nevis - winless in Group D until it beat Canada - could spring an upset. Panama has earned the right to rest players for the next round of this championship, but a weakened opponent might be SKN’s opportunity to cap its tournament with another unexpected victory.
