Seth Stammler to Retire
My favorite Red Bull has announced he will retire at the conclusion of this season. His presence has been diminished since the acquisition of Rafa Marquez as a defensive midfielder and his playing time has suffered. Stammler is 28 years old and has plans to continue his education after his retirement. He has made it known he wants to stay with the team in their bid for the playoffs and the MLS cup.
Stammler netted 6 goals and 13 assists in regular season play for the NYRB, playing in 142 matches for New York and starting in 126. Seth Stammler is the currently the club's longest continually tenured player, he was drafted in the 2nd round (18th overall) in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Maryland. Seth is well known for his charitable work off the field and he is well known for playing wherever the club has needed him.
