It took a little while for MLS to get an exact measurement of the timing of Mike Grella's opening goal for the New York Red Bulls against Philadelphia Union and crown it the fastest goal scored in league history. Tim Cahill, the holder of the record until it was decided Grella scored his in seven seconds, seems to have got hold of some old news - but his response was gracious and encouraging.
Either way stays at @NewYorkRedBulls my man Grella @MLS go for the double #RBNY the shield and MLS TITLE https://t.co/5P58Y07QD9

Thanks, Tim. The gloves are off now: Jesse Marsch has said we're going for ALL the trophies (well, the ones still available to us).
Grella's historic achievement was also welcome news to Tally Hall, hitherto the man who conceded the fastest goal in MLS history. Now just the guy who conceded second-fastest. On behalf of Mike Grella: you're welcome, Tally. Also, yes, good luck with your recovery from injury.
@tallyhallGK Tally... No, you're free! Good luck with your recovery as well. http://t.co/zHcpFidkVZ
