A confused New York City F.C. fan boarded an Amtrak train after last night’s Hudson River Derby expecting a quick trip back to New York. However, he accidentally hopped on a train going the wrong way towards Philadelphia.
And when 27-year old Lance Pimentel awoke in Pennsylvania, the befuddled fan said, "Ah, screw it!" and decided to change allegiances and become a Union supporter. His application to Sons of Ben is currently pending.
Mr. Pimentel is no stranger to changing rooting interests. He was a member of the Hudson Street Hooligans when he attended Ohio State University in his hometown of Columbus. And, since moving to New York nine months ago for a job in finance, he has been a dyed-in-the-wool Third Rail founding member. Additionally, Pimentel, who now supports Chelsea in the English Premier League, spent last season as a Liverpool fan.
"I can’t wait to get with the boys in the River End and show the Pink Cows and Man City Lite what a real team and real fans look like," he told Once a Metro. "This is a blessing in disguise really. Despite losing my job and apartment, at least I don’t have to deal with an eight game winless streak."
Mr. Pimentel would not respond to questions regarding the Union's current lack of success.
Third Rail Vice President, Jonathan Gomez, said, "See. This is what happens when you go to Jersey." Gomez added, "We are asking Amtrak to provide NYCFC-only trains for matches to prevent these mishaps in the future."
(this is probably satire)
