Thomas Letsch quits FC Liefering for FC Erzgebirge Aue

Another vacancy has opened up in the RB Global Soccer family of clubs.

Oscar Garcia's departure from Red Bull Salzburg created a coaching vacancy filled by Marco Rose, the man who guided Salzburg's U-19s to the 2016-17 UEFA Youth League title. The appointment was not unexpected: Rose was one of two favorites to replace Garcia. The other leading candidate for the Salzburg job was Thomas Letsch - head coach of the club's reserve team, FC Liefering, and the man who led Salzburg on an interim basis between the departure of Peter Zeidler and Garcia's arrival back in December 2015.

Having effectively been twice snubbed by Salzburg (once in 2015 and again in 2017), it would appear Letsch has decided the time has come to further his career elsewhere. He has moved on to coach FC Erzgebirge Aue in 2.Bundesliga, leaving the FC Liefering head coach position vacant.

Salzburger Nachrichten reports the new coach at Liefering will be announced in "just a few days".

New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marschsurprisingly linked to the RB Salzburg head coaching job earlier this year - is currently in Poland as part of his ongoing UEFA Pro Licence course.
