Another Saturday, another afternoon kickoff for the New York Red Bulls, this time out in lovely Columbus, Ohio, as they take on the Columbus Crew. The Red Bulls will be hoping for a third successive win for the first time since early last season.
We mentioned the Red Bulls' injury problems ahead of this game, resulting in Stephen Keel starting alongside Markus Holgersson at central defense. However, the most surprising change is that Joel Lindpere has been benched in favor of Mehdi Ballouchy after a poor start to the season by the Estonian international and a good substitute appearance last week for the Moroccan Maradona (hat tip to our friend @ViperRBNY for that).

That's true.
My junior year our high school coach decided to go with an 8th grader as our keeper. And he started all but like 2 games. The kid was big and had a lot of raw talent, but didn’t have the experience. It was infuriating but he was solid the next year and by the time he was a senior the kid was nasty.

I still have no problem hating Miller. Ballouchy has always been more of a frustrating player
he has a good touch on the ball, but doesn’t always know what to do. He’s stepped up so far this year, though.

i watched a game with a notepad last year and tallied what Ballouchy did every time he got the ball. It was mostly backward passes and unsuccessful attempts to take on a defender. He actually had zero forward passes for an entire game.

I'm not sure how I feel about the away hurdle in MLS
I mean, in most leagues teams aren’t expected to win away from home. But in MLS the biggest part of away games is the travel. There aren’t really boisterous supporters, for the most part the only people who chant and yell are in the supporters section. The short trip over to Ohio can hardly be compared to a flight out to the west coast.
And you can hear the NY supporters singing in Columbus. I don’t know, it’s weird to me. Away games don’t really have the same clout in MLS.
