We will talk about January 8th for years to come. January 8th was a day of rebellion and panic.
Kelly Davitt is normally a soccer blogger, but for a brief, glorious time on January 8th, 2015, she was Paul Revere. She tweeted:
(1/2) Re #Petke #petkegate, from a source: during a Tues night mtg there was a heated disagreement abt staffing involving academy employees
— Kelly (@KellyDavitt) January 8, 2026
(2/2) Not much got resolved. 0 mention/indication of #petke firing. Wed. morn., staff heard news through media. Just as shocked as fans.

(3/2 since I failed to plan accordingly) academy apparently now has job openings. no one has been fired yet, murmurs of mass quitting exodus

Egads! Will this revolution be televised? Let's hope so.
Unfortunately for those of us who intended to profit off of the impending chaos, Kristian Dyer reported that the rumored mass exodus of New York Red Bulls Academy coaches is not happening.
BigAppleSoccer.com can report via multiple sources that there has been no widespread leaving of the team's academy or any resignations in light of the week's recent news.
Anyone who is feeling disappointed by the lack of a revolution can watch the video below.
