It has been a whirlwind day or two for fans of the New York Red Bulls: an off-season that seemed a little sleepy got kicked awake by the news that (mostly) beloved head coach Mike Petke had been abruptly fired in favor of respected-but-not-so-much-that-anyone-wanted-to-give-him-a-coaching-gig-since-2012, energy-drink aficionado Jesse Marsch.
And if that news was hard to take for fans, think about how Petke must have felt.
Some heroic and thoughtful RBNY fans clearly did think about Mike Petke. A lot. So much that they apparently made the journey to Revenge-Is-Coming Meadows and left a little pick-me-up on his doorstep.
Thank you @andrewhampson8 & @garyhampson for waking up to this at my front door Very kind will not b full for long:) pic.twitter.com/P6V00NpAkj

Gracious as ever, Coach. Thank YOU, sir. Thank you.
NOTE: Once A Metro applauds the actions of those behind this gift to RBNY's best-ever head coach, but assumes there is some personal connection between these individuals and Mr. Petke, and certainly does not endorse the idea of randomly leaving gifts - even nice ones - at the front door of club legends.
