Tyler Adams and Matthew Olosunde are going to Chile.
The pair of RBNY academy products were named to Richie Williams' final 23 man roster on Oct. 1. Adams played this season for NYRB II, while Matthew Olosunde is completing a residency at the IMG Academy in Bradeton, Florida.
Adams and Olosudne had trained with the team in Mexico, for some preparation for the World Cup, along with U18 academy forward Brian Saramago. Unfortunately Saramago did not make the final roster to Chile.
The United States begins the U-17 World Cup against Nigeria, in Santiago, before taking on Croatia and hosts Chile. Nigeria won the 2013 U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. It is widely to believed one of the harder groups at the World Cup.
The top two teams in the group will automatically move on to the knockout stage, and the top four third places groups will join them. This is the first appearance for the United States since the 2011 U-17 World Cup where they were eliminated in the round of 16 losing 4-0 to Germany.
