Mike Petke, former head coach of the New York Red Bulls for two glorious seasons when it appeared the club had finally stumbled on a coherent and sustainable path to success, has issued a brief statement to his New York Red Bulls' fans and colleagues:
— @petkemike (@petkemike) January 7, 2015
He's not just the most successful head coach RBNY has ever had, he may now be the holder of the club's "classiest response to Red Bulls' cluelessness" record as well.
So long, Mike. And thank YOU: for the good times, especially the Shield-shaped one; but mostly for the class and commitment to this club you brought every day as a player and a coach, especially in the bad times. That will never be forgotten, and cannot be repaid.
Respect, Accountability and Loyalty: back atcha, Coach.
