New York Red Bulls young defenseman, Matt Miazga, has been called up to the U-23 USMNT for their two upcoming friendlies against Qatar and England.  This is a fantastic step in the right direction as its his first call-up to Andi Herzog's side.  The last two seasons, he has been playing at the U-20 level under Tab Ramos, including this past May's U-20 World Cup, where the US made a quarterfinal appearance.

This promotion is in the midst of Olympic qualifying.  First, these two friendlies will be against Qatar on September 3rd and England on September 9th.  Both games will be played in England.  Camp for this current session starts on August 30th, but according to Big Apple Soccer, Miazga will play in RBNY's game against D.C. United, then head to camp in England.  The Red Bulls don't play again until September 11th, so he should be able to make it back in time to get revenge on the Chicago Fire.

If he performs well, he'll most likely get called to the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament.  The US has been drawn into Group A with Canada (October 1st in KC), Cuba (October 3rd in KC) and Panama (October 6th in Colorado).

Six other U-20 teammates of Miazga will make the bump to the U-23 team also, including Zack Steffen, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Emerson Hyndman, Gedion Zelalem, Rubio Rubin and Maki Tall.
