Report: Necaxa rules itself out of race for Diego Forlan

Necaxa is not a candidate for the signature of Uruguayan soccer's most famous free agent, says Alfonso Sosa - the club's head coach - in widely reported comments to the media.

"No possibility" is the money quote Sosa offered, which seems a fairly conclusive end to Necaxa's participation in the rumors swirling around Diego Forlan.

Indian Super League's Atletico Kolkata is currently the team being most persistently linked to the legendary forward, especially since Forlan's agent (and brother) confirmed there was communication between the ISL club and the player.

The New York Red Bulls are one of Forlan's less convincingly rumored suitors. Chile's Colo Colo and Argentinian heavyweights River Plate have also been suggested by the rumor mill.

37-year-old Forlan only recently left Penarol - with whom he won a Uruguayan league title - and is expected to find a new club in due course. The rumor mill will doubtless continue to furnish him with options, real or imagined, until he makes his intentions clear.
