Hot on the heels of a social media campaign to revive the rumor that Diego Forlan is back on Atletico Kolkata's radar, Goal.com brings confirmation from an impeccable source.
Rahul Bali's report provides a direct quote from Pablo Forlan, Diego's agent and brother, confirming that the 2010 World Cup's joint top scorer and Golden Ball winner is in talks with the Indian Super League club. Pablo is careful to advise "there are no agreements in place", but the rumor that Forlan and Kolkata are at least talking is confirmed.
Twitter seemed to be the source for the rumor suggesting the New York Red Bulls were among the clubs interested in Forlan, but the MLS club has since fallen out of the rumor mill's mix with regard to the Uruguay legend's next employer. Can't win 'em all, Twitter.
Mediotiempo, com does mention MLS in the context of advancing the notion that Liga MX's Necaxa is chasing Forlan, but ISL's Kolkata currently holds the advantage of an actual, on-the-record confirmation of communication with the player from a reliable source.
