Chris Thorsheim is back on the move.
After spending part of last month back in New Jersey training with New York Red Bulls II, Chris Thorsheim is back in Europe. According to Yanks Abroad, the one-time homegrown player, since cut by the team, is currently on trial in Denmark. Thorsheim and his Bucknell and New York Red Bulls U23 teammate Michael Lansing are about to begin training with First Division side Vejle BK. The First Division team, the country's second division below the SuperLiga, finished a comfortable fifth out of 12 teams last year, three places out of a promotion spot. They have spent their history jumping between the first and second division of Danish football.
According to Yanks Abroad, Thorsheim spent the prior week training at Næstved BK, another second tier side, before leaving without a contract. Næstved BK is notable as they currently play home to another former New York Red Bulls academy graduate, Sammy Adjei. Adjei played a number of years with the New York Red Bulls U16, U18, and U23 teams before ultimately pursuing a career abroad.
As it stands Thorsheim remains without a professional club as he continues to search the international waters for career opportunities. However, according to head coach Jesse Marsch, Thorsheim will always a spot in New York's organization if or when he wants to return.
