Luis Robles wins MLS Save of Week 29

THAT save is hard to ignore.

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Mike Grella and Felipe Martins scored Goal of the Year contenders in Week 29, but could not win over voters in MLS's Goal of the Week competition.

Luis Robles, however, has scooped up his second Save of the Week award (the first arriving in Week 23) for his astonishing work against Portland Timbers.

A fine combination of reflexes and determination. The save attracted more than 50% of the vote this week.

Robles will hope to make his 101st consecutive MLS regular season start for the New York Red Bulls on September 25, against Orlando City. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Robles is one shutout short of claiming RBNY's all-time career clean-sheets record (currently shared by Robles and Tony Meola, who have 30 each). He is also five wins shy of Meola's all-time, all-competitions records for games won by a RBNY 'keeper. And one win short of tying his own single-season club record for wins (17).
