USL playoffs round two information

New York Red Bulls II will travel to upstate New York to play the Rochester Rhinos in the second round of the USL playoffs.

NYRB II earned the right to face off against the 2015 league champions, after beating the Pittsburgh Riverhounds 4-2 in the first round of the playoffs on Sept. 26.

The match finished 1-1 in regular time, before NYRB II outlasted the Riverhounds scoring 3 extra time goals, two from MLS-loanee Karl Ouimette.

Here are the highlights from that match:

First seeded Rochester will host fourth seeded NYRB II at Sahlen's Stadium at 7:00 pm on Oct 3rd. NYRB II drew Rochester 0-0 in their inaugural match, but lost both match-ups on the road 2-0 and 3-2, with Rochester taking the latter in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Rochester won the 2015 USL regular season title with a 17-1-10 record. The winner of this match-up will play the winner of the Louisville City-Charleston Battery match in the USL Eastern Conference Finals.

NYRB II play at the same time as the Red Bulls-Columbus Crew match-up, so it will be interesting to see if any cover from the MLS team will benefit NYRB II like in the Pittsburgh match.
